Former England footballer Raheem Sterling has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving following a motorway incident in May that ended with his Lamborghini hitting a metal gate.
The 31-year-old Berkshire resident also admitted possessing nitrous oxide with the intention of inhaling it unlawfully and failing to provide a sample for testing.
Sterling appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court after being arrested in connection with the crash near the M3 in Hampshire on the morning of 28 May.
He has made 82 appearances for England, with his most recent international appearance coming at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The former England winger admitted driving a Lamborghini Urus dangerously along the M25, M3, A327 and Minley Road before the collision.
The court was told that the vehicle veered into the motorway’s central reservation before striking a metal gate in a lay-by on the A327.
At the time, he was carrying six canisters of nitrous oxide, which is classified as a Class C drug.
