Rangers sign Serbian Vanja Dragojevic from Partizan

News

Dragojevic progressed through Partizan’s academy before securing his first professional contract in September 2023, then joining third-tier Teleoptik on loan.

Only four months afterwards, he committed his future to the club with a deal running to 2030, said to contain a release clause of £12.75m, and made his senior debut in March last year.

He quickly became a mainstay in the side and took over as captain during that campaign, totalling 41 appearances, four goals and four assists while operating chiefly as a defensive midfielder, as Partizan ended the Serbian SuperLiga in third spot.

Dragojevic featured in both matches of Partizan’s Conference League third qualifying round exit to Hibernian, a tie in which the Serbian club won 3-2 at Easter Road despite having a player sent off but were eliminated 4-3 on aggregate after extra time.

He earned his first senior international cap for Cape Verde as a half-time substitute in a pre-World Cup friendly that brought a 3-0 victory over Serbia in May, before being named in the starting eleven for a 5-1 loss against tournament co-hosts Mexico.
