Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with Arsenal to take Ethan Nwaneri on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Bundesliga club moved for the 19-year-old attacker after recent arrival Giannis Konstantelias suffered a serious knee injury in Saturday’s 2-0 victory against Hamburg.
Dortmund, who also pursued Nwaneri last summer, expect him to travel to Germany for a medical and finalise the switch before the Bundesliga transfer window closes at 19:00 BST.
Arsenal have chosen to consider temporary moves for Nwaneri while making it clear that they have no intention of selling him.
The academy-developed forward has drawn attention from several Premier League and European clubs during the summer transfer window.
Given the wide range of attacking options available to manager Mikel Arteta, Nwaneri was unlikely to receive regular minutes at Arsenal this season. Those at Emirates Stadium believe playing more frequently elsewhere would support his development.
Elsewhere, Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira has completed a permanent move to Hamburg after spending the previous campaign on loan at the German club.
The 26-year-old arrived from Porto in 2022 for £34.2m and went on to make 49 appearances for Arsenal.
