Nevertheless, Conmebol said it was troubled by recurring unilateral decisions made without dialogue or the use of established institutional procedures for resolving such matters.
Argentina’s football association, whose national team finished second at the 2026 World Cup, welcomed Infantino’s acknowledgement of his mistakes and subsequent apology.
It said his 10 years as Fifa president had focused on expanding football globally and strengthening the organisation through a clear, consistent and transparent system of governance.
Infantino has the unanimous support of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), although he faces resistance from Uefa, European football’s governing body, and Concacaf.
European national teams may still refuse to participate in the World Cup, with Uefa maintaining that its demands remain unfulfilled even after Infantino abandoned the plan.
In a statement, Uefa demanded firm guarantees that no similar effort to undermine the game would be attempted in the future.
It added that the necessary requirements had yet to be satisfied.
Uefa previously declared that it no longer trusted Infantino, describing the Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal as an improper and secretive arrangement negotiated behind closed doors.
The English FA formally withdrew its backing for Infantino in a letter, while the football associations of Wales, Albania and Croatia are among those that have also stopped supporting the 56-year-old.
Concacaf said Infantino’s proposal reflected leadership that no longer treated football as its main priority. It also argued that the unilateral decision was another example in an ongoing pattern of weak governance and poor leadership.
Unlike Uefa, however, Concacaf stopped short of formally declaring that it had lost confidence in the Fifa president.
Before Infantino dropped the proposal, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said it supported Uefa and Concacaf in their opposition to the plans.
